On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Hôtel Drouot will host an auction of photographs by Matthieu Ricard, organized by Nouvelle Étude to benefit Karuna-Shechen.

A selection of 130 photographs from his archives will be offered at auction, with online bidding also available. The collection brings together images that reflect the diversity of perspectives and moments captured during his travels.

Among them are the sacred dances of the Trongsar monks in Bhutan, the portrait of the young “Karuna girl”—which has become emblematic of Karuna-Shechen—and Matthieu Ricard meditating in a Hindu temple in Karnataka. Other photographs invite viewers to contemplate vast landscapes, such as the Andes seen from the sky or the peaks of the Himalayas at dawn. Each of these images tells a story—in its own way—of an encounter, a place, or a moment.

All net proceeds from the sale will be donated to Karuna-Shechen to support projects in Nepal in response to the floods that struck several Himalayan regions on August 26, 2026.

A fundraiser for Karuna-Shechen

All net proceeds from the sale will be donated to Karuna-Shechen to support relief efforts in Nepal in response to the floods of August 26, 2026.

Since then, Karuna-Shechen teams have been working in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, responding directly to the needs identified on the ground. From distributing essential supplies and providing access to water to supporting displaced people, efforts continue to provide long-term assistance to the affected communities.
