Karuna-Shechen’s total expenditure in 2025 amounted to US$4.2M, with 81.2% allocated to our missions and advocacy programs. To support our missions, communication and fundraising costs accounted for 12.5%. Finally, administrative expenses represented 6.3% of total expenses.
Aggregated financial statements
Karuna-Shechen is made up of a series of independent organizations that share the goal of alleviating the suffering of disadvantaged populations and advocating for a more altruistic world. These organizations work closely together to nurture our altruistic motivations, coordinate our efforts and foster a solidarity of purpose
The scope of the combined financial statements includes the following 6 entities:
- Karuna-Shechen, association loi 1901, declared of general interest (France)
- Karuna-Shechen, endowment fund (France)
- Compassion en Action – Karuna, civil society (France)
- Karuna-Shechen USA, 501c3 registered in the State of New York (United States)
- Karuna-Shechen Suisse, non-profit organization (Switzerland)
- Karuna-Shechen Asia Limited, non-profit company (Hong-Kong)
In addition to this aggregation, Karuna-Shechen’s field partners are also included. The sister entities within the network that directly implement our activities are as follows:
- In India, our main partner is the sister entity SRPC Trust, for the portion of its activities related to the humanitarian work of the Shechen Clinic and Karuna-Shechen, as well as the more recent structure Karuna-Shechen India Foundation.
- In Nepal, our main partner is currently the sister entity Shechen Karuna Nepal.
These entities are complemented by the share of programs funded by Karuna-Shechen and implemented by external partners with complementary expertise in certain areas of intervention.
- In 2025 and 2026, we continue to work with the Ruit Foundation (ophthalmic surgery), HELP Nepal (community empowerment), and the Loden Foundation in Bhutan.
- Historically, over the past 25 years, the association has supported other partners. In Nepal (Himalayan Children Society, Himaleco, NADEM, Nari Bikash Sangh, Aawaj, CFWA, LOOKS Nepal, INHURED, SMBV…). In India (Barefoot College, ASSEFA, Calcutta Rescue, …)
The statutory financial data of the entities are aggregated after conversion into U.S. dollars. For each local currency, the annual average exchange rate with the USD has been used.

We are making available the audit reports for Karuna-Shechen, a non-profit association under the French Law of 1901 recognized as serving the public interest in France, and for Karuna-Shechen, an endowment fund engaged in activities of public interest and registered in France. The financial statements of these entities are public and available for review in the Official Journal of Associations. As has been the case every year for over 10 years, the financial statements of the association and the endowment fund are audited and certified without qualification by our auditor.
