Shechen Medical Clinic, Nepal
Shechen Medical Clinic, built in 2000, is located in Baudhanath, an overcrowded suburb of Kathmandu, Nepal. The clinic provides quality medical care to a large destitute community that includes refugees from Tibet and people from the far mountain regions.
The clinic offers allopathic medicine, dental care, and traditional Tibetan medicine. We have a laboratory for blood, urine, and stool analysis, pap smears, free HIV testing, a pharmacy, and we offer tuberculosis care and treatment. A hospice occupies a wing of the clinic where the elderly and terminally ill are taken care of in a compassionate and loving atmosphere.
The medical staff includes Nepali family doctors, physicians specializing in Tibetan medicine, a female gynecologist, trained nurses, a laboratory technician, and visiting foreign doctors. Shechen’s Dental Clinic utilizes modern equipment and skilled dentists to provide dental care for those who would otherwise not be able to afford it.
Through its diverse services, Shechen Clinic treats over 55,000 patients annually - 75% of the patients free of charge and 25% for a minimal charge. All patients are treated with care and respect.
